Index - Postage Stamps of Pakistan: 2001 Onward

This is our third and continuing index of postage stamps issued by Pakistan Post from year 2001 till date.
Year 2001 was declared as the Year of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to pay rich tribute to the founder of Pakistan. 
Year 2002 was declared as the Year of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal, to pay rich tribute to the poet philosopher and dreamer of Pakistan.
Year 2003 was declared as the Year of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah. Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, sister of the founder the nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Quaid e Azam) took active part in the independence movement spearheaded by her brother for an independent Muslim country for the Muslims of British India.
2004, besides many other important occasions on which Pakistan Post issued commemorative stamps. it was also the the year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first successful ascent of K-2, the second highest mountain after Mt. Everest and one of the five Eight Thousanders (out of total a 14 the world over) located in Pakistan.  
 23 April 2005: 85th Anniversary of Turkish Grand National Assembly

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and Muhammad Ali Jinnah are two great Muslim leaders who are revered and honoured by their countries and the world for laying down foundation of their countries. The set of stamps issued on the occasion of 85th Anniversary of Turkish Grand National Assembly showed portraits of both these great leaders.
The Year 2006 was a year when Pakistan Post issued a set of ten stamps dedicated to the  some of the finest artists and painters of Pakistan, a few of which are revered and respected the world over.

Year 2007 was a milestone year in the history of Pakistan towards self reliance when the jointly produced JF-17 Thunder was first publicly flown in Pakistan. To commemorate the occasion, a commemorative stamp issued during 2007

Year 2008 was a Benazir Bhutto remembrance year who succumbed to a terrorist act a year earlier. A number of stamps were issued throughout the year to pay tribute to the Daughter of the East.
Pakistan has been long drawn into a battle against the terrorists and miscreants, specially targeting the North Western Province of Pakistan. The people of the area suffered both in terms of human and material losses but stood like a rock to fight back the militancy and supported the armed forces of the country to root out the evil of terrorism from their soil.
A special award called " Hilal-i-Iessar" or the Crescent of Sacrifice was awarded in 2009 to cities of Nowshehra, Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan and Charsdda - which were worst hit by the menace of terrorism. This set of five stamps was issued on 22nd Feb 2010, which bore the name of these cities and the flag of Pakistan inscribed with the words:  Hilal-i-Iessar.
The last stamp of the year 2015 showed the British days Victorian style GPO building of Murree on 29 December 2015. Murree is one of the most visited hill station just two hours distance from capital Islamabad.


The first stamp of the year 2016 was issued on 10 February, 2016 on Completion of 50 Years of Safe Operation of 1st NUCLEAR RE-SEARCH REACTOR in Pakistan - established at Nilore, a village near the capital city of Pakistan, Islamabad in 1966.
